Rhea conducted a watershed and runoff analysis to identify necessary improvements to the drainage system of an iconic local business and prevent future flood damage.
Stormwater Evaluation at Remnant City Carpet
Remnant City is a family-owned business, operating in the Pittsburgh area for 50 years. Over the decades, several flood events have caused significant damage to the business. Rhea was tasked with completing a site survey and stormwater evaluation to develop a strategy to prevent future flood damage.
Rhea evaluated the current site conditions, analyzed the most recent large-scale flood event, and completed a watershed and runoff analysis for the site’s drainage area.
Our analyses showed that the surrounding drainage systems had been inadequately designed or had deteriorated over time. To support a more efficient drainage system, Rhea recommended the regrading of upstream paved areas and vegetated channels and the construction of additional stormwater infrastructure to handle the sheet flow of stormwater.
